Microgreens

What exactly are microgreens?

Microgreens are young vegetable greens that are approximately 1–3 inches tall. They have an aromatic flavour and concentrated nutrient content and come in a variety of colours and textures.

Microgreens are a real superfood packed with antioxidants and other health-promoting nutrients and fiber, giving your body the nourishment it needs to stay healthy and energetic.

They contain 40x more concentrated nutrients than their full grown veggie counterparts.

The Signature Mix contains:

Sunflower Shoots

Sweet, nutty and crunchy. A hearty texture that can withstand the heat from a burger or burrito. A crowd favourite.

Sunflower microgreens are low in calories and high in nutrition, making them ideal for any natural and healthy lifestyle. Sunflower sprouts are a perfect source of complete protein. In fact, they are considered to be the most balanced of all of the sources of essential amino acids, helping to repair muscle tissue and aid in enzymatic functions in the body. Sunflower greens are a nutritional powerhouse packed with vitamins A, B complex, D, and E; they also contain minerals including calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus.

Daikon & Sango Red Radish

Zesty, punchy radish flavour. Delicious on tacos or to spice up a salad.

In a 2012 microgreen study green daikon radish microgreens had the highest amounts of tocopherols with 126.8mg per 100 grams. For reference, the recommended daily allowance for vitamin E is 15mg, meaning that eating just a small amount of daikon radish microgreens would cover your daily requirement for this important antioxidant vitamin. Like other sprouts, radish sprouts are very low in calories, and are packed with vitamin C. Vitamin C helps the body produce collagen, a protein that keeps your skin smooth, elastic, and wrinkle-free.

Sweet Pea

Tastes like delicious spring peas. Great raw or quickly sauteed.

A hearty micogreen suitable for fresh or slightly sautéed preparations. Sweet Pea microgreens have seven times more vitamin C than blueberries. They are also high in beta-carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A, an essential vitamin. Beta carotene is a carotenoid and an antioxidant and some evidence suggests that beta carotene might slow cognitive decline.
